The electrophysiological properties of isolated turtle retinal pigment epithelial cells (RPE cells) were investigated using the whole-cell patch-clamp technique. Most RPE cells exhibited a voltage-dependent outward current activated by depolarization beyond about −43 mV that inactivated during a 500-ms voltage step.
