Transplantation of retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells has been proposed as a potential remedial procedure for previously untreatable retinal diseases. In this study, a vitreoretinal surgical technique was used to transplant pigmented RPE cells obtained from pigmented rabbits into the subretinal space of New Zealand White rabbits.
