Associations have been reported between vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphisms, type 1 diabetes, insulin secretion, and the insulin resistance syndrome. As VDR polymorphisms have no known functional significance, these findings may implicate a variant of the VDR gene or a locus in linkage disequilibrium with the VDR. We have examined VDR mRNA and VDR protein levels in relation to VDR polymorphisms (41 Bangladeshi subjects) and analyzed insulin secretory capacity (143 Bangladeshi subjects…
Relationship Between Vitamin D Status and Vitamin D Receptor Gene Polymorphisms With Markers of Metabolic Syndrome Among Adults
TLDR
Vitamin D deficiency, rs7975232, and rs1544410 VDR gene variants are associated with MS parameters in Russian middle-aged women and risk of MS did not differ in normal vitamin D status subjects and insufficient/deficient ones.
Vitamin D receptor gene polymorphisms and vitamin D status and susceptibility to type 2 diabetes mellitus in Moroccans patients
TLDR
It is indicated that vitamin D deficiency was prevalent in Moroccans patients with T2DM, and each variants in VDR polymorphism may be associated with different mechanisms that enhance the plasma lipid profil and the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Association between the rs1544410 polymorphism in the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene and insulin secretion after gestational diabetes mellitus
TLDR
Evidence is provided that the rs1544410 polymorphism of the VDR gene may be associated with increased insulin secretion in women after pregnancy complicated by GDM, and further studies in other populations are needed to confirm the results.
Genetic variation in the vitamin D receptor gene and vitamin D serum levels in Egyptian women with polycystic ovary syndrome
TLDR
Investigation of associations between polymorphisms in the vitamin D receptor gene (VDR) and PCOS among Egyptian women suggested that, VDR Taq-I gene polymorphism is associated with increased risk of PCOS in Egyptian women.
Relationship between Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) Gene Polymorphisms and susceptibility to Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Moroccans population
TLDR
The prevalence of Vitamin D inadequancy is higher significantly in patients with T2DM than in the controls subjects, and there was a strong association between fok-I polymorphisms with T1DM.
Vitamin D Receptor Gene Polymorphisms Modify Cardiometabolic Response to Vitamin D Supplementation in T2DM Patients
TLDR
Improvements in metabolic profile due to vitamin D supplementation is influenced by VDR polymorphisms, specifically for carriers of Taq-I GG and Bsm-I TT genotypes.
Relationship between Vitamin D Receptor gene polymorphisms and the components of metabolic syndrome
TLDR
Using two common VDR polymorphism data suggests they may influence insulin secretion, insulin resistance an serum HDL-cholesterol in the highly heterogeneous population of Brazilian adults.
ASSOCIATION OF THE METABOLIC SYNDROME AND VITAMIN D RECEPTOR GENE POLYMORPHISMS: A CROSS SECTIONAL STUDY
TLDR
A negative correlation was reported between MetSyn and 25(OH) vitamin D levels, type-2 diabetes and glucose homeostasis, and subjects with MetSyn who carry AA genotype had higher waist circumference and BMI.

TLDR
It is suggested that the VDR-FokI polymorphism has at most a minor pathogenic importance in the development of PHPT.
Vitamin D receptor (VDR) and parathyroid hormone messenger ribonucleic acid levels correspond to polymorphic VDR alleles in human parathyroid tumors.
TLDR
Using the ribonuclease protection assay, relative VDR and PTH messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) levels of parathyroid adenomas from 42 patients with sporadic pHPT were related to these VDR polymorphisms.
Vitamin D receptor allele combinations influence genetic susceptibility to type 1 diabetes in Germans.
TLDR
Findings suggest a linkage of VDR itself or a nearby gene with type 1 diabetes susceptibility in Germans, confirming respective observations previously made in Indian Asians.

TLDR
The findings suggest that these polymorphisms do not affect VDR function, but rather may be a marker for a nearby gene that is responsible for the genotype-associated variation in osteoporosis and prostate cancer risk.
Allelic variation in the vitamin D receptor influences susceptibility to IDDM in Indian Asians
TLDR
It is suggested that a polymorphism within or close to the vitamin D receptor gene may modify susceptibility to IDDM in this ethnic group.
Association of vitamin D receptor genotypes with early onset rheumatoid arthritis.
TLDR
The BB/tt genotype, defined by the BsmI and TaqI restriction site polymorphisms, was identified to be weakly associated with an early onset RA in female patients, and could be related to the immunoregulatory properties of vitamin D.
Vitamin D receptor: no evidence for allele-specific mRNA stability in cells which are heterozygous for the Taq I restriction enzyme polymorphism.
TLDR
Results indicate a variation in transcriptional regulation rather than mRNA stability between the alleles, which is responsible for the relationship between risk of prostate cancer and VDR polymorphisms.
Vitamin D receptor gene polymorphism is associated with Graves' disease in the Japanese population.
TLDR
The present results support the association of the VDR gene with GD in Japanese by showing that the V DR gene could be a non-HLA-linked gene predisposing an individual to GD and the roles of other polymorphisms should be studied in terms of GD susceptibility.
Analysis of the stable levels of messenger RNA derived from different polymorphic alleles in the vitamin D receptor gene
TLDR
Higher mRNA levels of allele t than T were detected, but the difference did not result in higher levels of VDR mRNA in subjects with the Tt genotype compared to those with the TT genotype.

TLDR
The findings suggest that the BB genotype might trigger the development of SLE, and that the bb genotype is associated with lupus nephritis.
