Through both HIV 1 and HIV 2 sequence analysis, the HIV 2 had been identified in China. The peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were isolated from the blood sample (Shh05) collected from Shanghai city by ficoll and the genome DNA was extracted. HIV 1 and HIV 2 genes were amplified by nested PCR using specific primer pairs and sequenced directly. The genetic distances are 8.1% in gag gene of HIV 2 between Shh05 and HIV2PEI2KR, 7.05% in env gene of HIV 2 between Shh05 and Af025336 and…

Simple Subtyping Assay for Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 Subtypes B, C, CRF01-AE, CRF07-BC, and CRF08-BC
TLDR
A simple, rapid, and low cost assay for screening subtype-specific primers based on subtype signature pattern (SSP) analyses and optimization of the PCR conditions, which found the intersubtype specificity of the assay was found to be 100%.
Current HIV/AIDS Diagnosis, Reporting, and Surveillance in China
TLDR
Since the first case of HIV infection was identified in China in 1985, the HIV spread in China has undergone three phases: an introduction phase, an expansion phase, and a rapid transmission phase since 1995.
