The graphic novel, as a recent addition to Indian publishing, offers authors and artists a new medium of creative expression. Karin Kukkonen puts forth a succinct definition of the graphic novel as ‘a publication format of the comics medium, which is a self-contained, non-serialised comics narrative’ (2013, p. 172).
