The predominant players in membrane fusion events are the soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) family of proteins. We hypothesize that SNARE proteins mediate fusion events at the chlamydial inclusion and are important for chlamydial lipid acquisition.
