OBJECTIVE The only pharmacologic prophylaxis for cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage is oral nimodipine. A novel way to mitigate this risk may be to design a drug eluting stent that elutes verapamil over the time period typically associated with vasospasm.
