Population trends in breeding birds at Lake Constance (SW-Germany/Switzerland/Austria; 1,120 km2) are examined using line-transect data of 303 tetragons from three census periods (1980–1981, 1990–1992, and 2000–2002). In total, 159 breeding species were recorded, 154 of which in the most recent census period. Altogether, 52 species showed significant population increases or (re-)settled in the area, 52 significantly declined (or were lost as breeding species), in a further 16 species… Expand

Analyse des starken Bestandsrückgangs beim Waldlaubsänger Phylloscopus sibilatrix im Bodenseegebiet
During the breeding season of 2003, vegetation parameters of 29 occupied territories and of 13 abandoned territories of the Wood Warbler (Phylloscopus sibilatrix) were recorded and the breedingExpand

Avian species richness and abundance at Lake Constance: diverging long-term trends in Passerines and Nonpasserines
TLDR
The results of the three bird censuses at Lake Constance imply that ongoing habitat degradation and human impacts as well as increasing effects of climate change are the main drivers of the observed population changes. Expand
Long-term shifts in a suburban breeding bird community in Bonn, Germany
ABSTRACT Capsule Long-term data on changes in avian diversity from urban habitats are essential to address the ongoing declines in European bird populations. Aims We aimed to analyse historicalExpand
Effects of climate and land-use change on species abundance in a Central European bird community.
TLDR
This is the first study that suggests that climate change has overtaken land-use modification in determining population trends of Central European birds. Expand
Source-sink status of small and large wetland fragments and growth rate of a population network.
TLDR
The source—sink status of local populations is more comprehensively described by metrics including emigration than by metrics focusing on processes within local populations (such as Rr), and the network oflocal populations studied here is not viable without immigration. Expand
