A B S T R A C T. ‐ A new genus and species of the family Laophontidae, C a rc i n o c a r i s serrichelata, is described and figured. This genus lives on the carapace of xanthid crabs collect ed in the intertidal zone along the coasts of some Philippine islands. Several laophontids have been reported as associates of xanthid crabs, however, C a rc i n o c a r i s gen. nov. has several autapomorphies which distinguish it from them: maxilliped very well developed and ornate, forming an uncommon… Expand

VARIAZIONI SUL TEMA II: DESCRIPTION OF CARCINOCARIS DUSSARTI SP. NOV., ASSOCIATED WITH XANTHID CRABS, AND NEW DATA ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF CARCINOCARIS SERRICHELATA (COPEPODA, HARPACTICOIDA)
A new species of the laophontid genus Carcinocaris, C. dussarti sp. nov. is described. The specimens were collected from the carapax of xanthid decapod crabs gathered in the intertidal zone along theExpand
NEw TAXON OF INTERSTITIAL LAOPHONTIDAE FROM THE INDO-PACIFIC : AequinoctiellA gEN . NOV . ( COPEPODA : HARPACTICOIDA ) . V . cottArelli ,
– A new genus of the harpacticoid family Laophontidae T. Scott, 1905 is described here. Aequinoctiella gen. nov. includes two species: A. cavallettii sp. nov., collected from the interstitial habitatExpand
A new occurrence and a new species of Carcinocaris Cottarelli et al. (Laophontidae, Copepoda), commensal on panopeid crabs
TLDR
The main characteristics are the absence of endopods on pereiopods 2 to 4 and a very robust maxilliped and the nauplius and copepodid stages of the species. Expand
Cancrincolidae (Copepoda, Harpacticoida) associated with land crabs: a semiterrestrial leaf of the ameirid tree.
TLDR
The adoption of semi-terrestriality in cancrincolid copepods can be viewed as yet another independent attempt (incursion) to colonize low-salinity environments by members of the family Ameiridae. Expand
Harpacticoida (Crustacea: Copepoda) of the South China Sea: faunistic and biogeographical analysis
TLDR
A brief comparison is presented between the harpacticoid fauna of the South China Sea, the Philippine Islands, the inner Malayan Archipelago, New Guinea, the Yellow Sea, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where the overall similarity between the species lists of these areas was observed to be extremely low. Expand
Harpacticoida (Copepoda) fauna and the taxocene diversity of the South China Sea
TLDR
A comparative analysis of the Harpacticoida species composition is presented for the South China Sea, the Philippines, the Malay Archipelago, New Guinea, the Yellow Sea, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the similarity of the species lists of the considered sector of the Indo-Pacific is extremely low. Expand
Unresolved cases of type fixation, synonymy and homonymy in harpacticoid copepod nomenclature (Crustacea: Copepoda)
TLDR
Type fixation for each of the 601 valid genera and 13 genera of doubtful identity (genera inquirenda) in the Harpacticoida (Crustacea, Copepoda) has been verified and new replacement names have been proposed for preoccupied generic names. Expand

Allocation of Laophonte trispinosa Sewell to Xanthilaophonte gen. nov. and the description of X. carcinicola spec. nov. (Harpacticoida: Laophontidae)
TLDR
Comparison of the copepodid development clearly shows that the advanced morphology of Xanthilaophonte gen. nov. resulted from heterochrony events. Expand
Raptolaophonte ardua n.gen., n.sp. (Copepoda Harpacticoida Laophontidae) from the meiobenthos of the Chagos Islands
In this paper the harpacticoid Raptolaophonte ardua n.gen., n.sp., collected at Boddam Island (Chagos Islands) is described. The new genus is characterized by many features; in particular, theExpand
HARPACTICOIDS FROM GROUNDWATERS IN THE PHILIPPINES: PARASTENOCARIS MANGYANS, NEW SPECIES, EPACTOPHANES PHILIPPINUS, NEW SPECIES, AND REDESCRIPTION OF PHYLLOGNATHOPUS BASSOTI (COPEPODA)
TLDR
Phyllognathopus bassoti has been redescribed on the basis of new material collected from fresh and brackish water wells in Bantayan Island, thus broadening the distribution and the ecology of the species, which had been previously collected only in a lake in Papua New Guinea. Expand
Robustunguis gen. nov., a genus of decapod associated laophontids (Copepoda: Harpacticoida)
TLDR
The genus Robustunguis gen. nov. is erected for two species of laophontid harpacticoids that were recovered from washings of decapod crustaceans collected along the coasts of Florida (U.S.A.) and Shimoni (Kenya). Expand
Female leg 4 development in Laophontidae (Harpacticoida): a juvenile adaptation to precopulatory behaviour
TLDR
Within the family this juvenile adaptation evolved from a simple anchorage for the male antennulae to a highly advanced morphological complex indicating that it functions as a specific mate recognition system (SMRS). Expand
