Recent key observational results on the variation of fine structure constant, the proton to electron mass ratio and the gravitational constant are reviewed. The necessity to substantiate the dark sector of cosmology and to test gravity on astrophysical scales is also emphasized.

The stability of fundamental constants
Abstract The tests of the constancy of fundamental constants are tests of the local position invariance and thus of the equivalence principle, at the heart of general relativity. After summarisingExpand

I summarize various tests of general relativity on astrophysical scales, based on the large-scale structure of the universe but also on other systems, in particular the constants of physics. IExpand
REVIEW ARTICLE: Possible variations of the fine structure constant alpha and their metrological significance
We briefly review the recent experimental results on possible variations of the fine structure constant ? on the cosmological time scale and its position dependence. We outline the theoreticalExpand
Tests of general relativity on astrophysical scales
While tested to a high level of accuracy in the Solar system, general relativity is under the spotlight of both theoreticians and observers on larger scales, mainly because of the need to introduceExpand
Fundamental Constants and Tests of General Relativity—Theoretical and Cosmological Considerations
The tests of the constancy of the fundamental constants are tests of the local position invariance and thus of the equivalence principle. We summarize the various constraints that have been obtainedExpand
Studying the Supernova luminosity distance in Palatini formalism considering the role of causal structure constant
The speed of light is a complicated synthesizer quantity with distinctive origins which lead to coincident values in the standard theory. Due to the fact that different aspects of speed of light doExpand
Natural Boundaries
My understanding of modern physical discoveries that does not modify the existing equations. Only the values become bounded, to avoid infinities and singularities: “the sand a boundary for the sea,Expand
Effects of a scalar fifth force on the dynamics of a charged particle as a new experimental design to test chameleon theories
This article describes the dynamics of a charge particle in a electromagnetic field in presence of a scalar fifth force. Focusing to the fifth force that would be induced by a chameleon field, theExpand
Fifth force induced by a chameleon field on nested cylinders
This article investigates the properties of a scalar fifth force that arises in a scalar tensor-theory with a chameleon screening mechanism in the context of gravity space missions like theExpand

Nucleosynthesis and the variation of fundamental couplings
We determine the influence of a variation of the fundamental 'constants' on the predicted helium abundance in Big Bang Nucleosynthesis. The analytic estimate is performed in two parts: the first stepExpand
The Cosmic Energy Inventory
We present an inventory of the cosmic mean densities of energy associated with all the known states of matter and radiation at the present epoch. The observational and theoretical bases for theExpand
Search for a possible variation of the fine structure constant
The determination of the fine structure constant α and the search for its possible variation are considered. We focus on the role of the fine structure constant in modern physics and discussExpand
Conformal fixed point, cosmological constant, and quintessence.
A possible solution for the "cosmological constant problem" is connected to the existence of a (postulated) conformal fixed point in a fundamental theory, which leads to quintessence. Expand
New BBN limits on physics beyond the standard model from 4He
A recent analysis of the 4He abundance determined from observations of extragalactic HII regions indicates a significantly greater uncertainty for the 4He mass fraction. Furthermore, due to aExpand
c is the speed of light, isn’t it?
Theories for a varying speed of light have been proposed as an alternative way of solving several standard cosmological problems. Recent observational hints that the fine structure constant may haveExpand
Crossover quintessence and cosmological history of fundamental “constants”
Abstract Crossover quintessence predicts that the time variation of fundamental couplings is substantially faster at redshift z ≈2 than over the past few billion years. This could reconcile theExpand
The distance duality relation from X-ray and SZ observations of clusters
X-ray and Sunyaev-Zel'dovich data of clusters of galaxies enable to construct a test of the distance duality relation between the angular and luminosity distances. We argue that such a test on largeExpand
Chameleon fields: awaiting surprises for tests of gravity in space.
It is predicted that near-future satellite experiments could measure an effective Newton's constant in space different from that on Earth, as well as violations of the equivalence principle stronger than currently allowed by laboratory experiments. Expand
Probing String Theory with Modulated Cosmological Fluctuations
Superstring theory, models with extra dimensions and other SUSY models generically predict that the coupling constants are in fact vacuum expectation values of fields like the dilaton, moduli etc.Expand
