BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The laparoscopic approach is now recommended by NICE as the preferred technique for repair of bilateral and recurrent inguinal hernia and an accepted option for unilateral hernia. This study was set up to examine whether patients across Scotland had equal access to this method of treatment.
