To test the value of detection of anti-Candida albicans germ tube antibodies by indirect immunofluorescence assay in the diagnosis of systemic candidosis, a retrospective study was done using 126 sera from 27 patients with presumptive systemic candidosis (13 immunocompromised), 165 sera from 45 patients with aspergillosis (29 immunocompromised), 35 sera from eight patients with cryptococcosis (6 immunocompromised), and 101 sera from 101 blood donors.
