The FML antigen of Leishmania donovani in combination with saponin, aluminum hydroxide (Al(OH)3) and Freund's incomplete adjuvant (FIA) was used in vaccines tested in an outbred murine model of visceral leishmaniasis, either through intraperitoneal or subcutaneous routes.
