This paper presents the VHDL implementation of a novel power management algorithm for standalone PV-battery system. The algorithm performs two tasks, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and dual load regulation. The MPPT is used to maximize the PV cells' output power, and is achieved by the “fractional open circuit voltage” method.
