An experiment was conducted to determine the DE, ME, and NE in diets with 0, 15, or 30% wheat bran added to a corn-soybean meal-based diet fed to growing pigs. A second objective was to test the hypothesis that the DE, ME, and NE in wheat bran can be determined using the difference procedure with the same efficacy as with a regression method. Eighteen barrows (initial BW: 54.4 ± 4.3 kg) were individually housed in metabolism cages. The experiment had 3 periods and 6 replicate pigs per diet. The… CONTINUE READING
