Noninvasive imaging methodologies are needed to assess treatment responses to novel molecular targeting approaches for the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN). Computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging do not effectively distinguish tumors from fibrotic tissue commonly associated with SCCHN tumors.
