The rotation rate, level of magnetic activity and surface lithium abundance are age-dependent quantities in stars of about a solar mass and below. The physical reasons for the evolution of these phenomena are qualitatively understood, but accurate quantitative models remain dependent on empirical calibration using the Sun and stars of known age, chiefly in clusters. In this work I review the status of these “empirical age indicators”, outlining the astrophysics of their time dependence… Expand

The lithium-rotation connection in the 125 Myr-old Pleiades cluster
The evolution of lithium abundance over a star's lifetime is indicative of transport processes operating in the stellar interior. We revisit the relationship between lithium content and rotation rateExpand
The Gaia-ESO Survey: A lithium-rotation connection at 5 Myr?
Context. The evolution of lithium abundance in cool dwarfs provides a unique probe of nonstandard processes in stellar evolution. Aims. We investigate the lithium content of young low-mass starsExpand

A kinematically unbiased, all-sky search for nearby, young, low-mass stars
The past two decades have seen dramatic progress in our knowledge of the population of young stars of age $\lt \!200\,$ Myr that lie within $150\,$ pc of the Sun. These nearby, young stars, most ofExpand
Lithium-rotation connection in the newly discovered young stellar stream Psc–Eri (Meingast 1)
Context. As a fragile element, lithium is a sensitive probe of physical processes occurring in stellar interiors. Aims. We aim at investigating the relationship between lithium abundance and rotationExpand
The GALAH Survey: lithium-strong KM dwarfs
Identifying and characterizing young stars in the Solar neighbourhood is essential to find and describe planets in the early stages of their evolution. This work seeks to identify nearby young starsExpand
CHROMOSPHERICALLY ACTIVE STARS IN THE RAVE SURVEY. II. YOUNG DWARFS IN THE SOLAR NEIGHBORHOOD
A large sample of over 38,000 chromospherically active candidate solar-like stars and cooler dwarfs from the RAVE survey is addressed in this paper. An improved activity identification with respectExpand
Spectroscopic confirmation of M-dwarf candidate members of the Beta Pictoris and AB Doradus Moving Groups
• Physics

A grid of synthetic lithium spectra that are computed in non-local thermodynamic equilibrium (NLTE) across the stagger grid of three-dimensional (3D) hydrodynamic stellar atmosphere models, and finds that the abundance corrections are up to 0.15 dex more negative than in previous work, due to a previously overlooked NLTE effect of blocking of UV lithium lines by background opacities.
