BACKGROUND Many clinical data sources used to assess health disparities lack Asian subgroup information, but do include patient names. OBJECTIVE This project validates Asian surname and given name lists for identifying Asian subgroups (Asian Indian, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese) in clinical records.
