Thiabendazole, mixed into commercial dog food at concentrations of 0.005, 0.01, and 0.025%, was fed three times daily to young dogs which were exposed to infection with Toxocara canis, Ancylostoma braziliense, Ancylostoma caninum, Strongyloides stercoralis, and Trichuris vulpis. All three levels of thiabendazole were effective in preventing patent infections of Ancylostoma and Toxocara. Hookworm eggs were never observed in the feces of dogs receiving any level of thiabendazole, nor were…

Effect of thiabendazole on the migration of Toxocara canis larvae in the mouse.
TLDR
It was concluded that the immobilizing effect of the drug on the larvae of T. canis may account for the clinical improvement observed after treatment with thiabendazole in cases of visceral larva migrans, the prevention of prenatal or mammary transmission of infection in dogs, and the suppression of tissue damage by nematode larvae in general.

Dogs, and to a lesser extent cats, are the animals that have been by far the most intensively modulated by the domesticating process, into hundreds of breeds and races, to meet all kinds of human needs.

TLDR
The presence of large armies in the tropics and semitropics during World War II and the havocs caused by various tropical diseases stimulated the search for more effective drugs to combat the diseases encountered, and the number of compounds synthesized and tested against the various diseases soon dwarfed the number considered huge a few decades earlier.

TLDR
A newer dimension has been given to the chemotherapy of helminthiasis where modern drug design is chiefly directed towards searching potent veterinary and human anthelmintics derived from benzimidazoles.
