Melamine is a nitrogen-rich industrial chemical which is occasionally used to increase the apparent protein content of different products destined for human and animal consumption. In this work, a liquid chromatographic procedure that uses micellar mobile phases of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) buffered at pH 3, a C18 column and UV detection is reported for the determination of melamine in dietetic supplements.
