Use of dabigatran versus warfarin for patients with atrial fibrillation.

Abstract

Study Participants The study included 18 113 patients who were enrolled in 44 countries. Patients had to have atrial fibrillation documented on electrocardiogram, and have $ 1 increased risk factor for stroke, including previous stroke or transient ischemic attack, a left ventricular ejection fraction of , 40%, New York Heart Association class II or higher heart failure, and aged $ 75 years or aged 65 to 75 years with diabetes, hypertension, or coronary artery disease. Patients were followed for a median of 2 years.
