CONTEXT Comprehensive descriptions of substance use and abuse trajectories have been lacking in nationally representative samples of adolescents. OBJECTIVE To examine the prevalence, age at onset, and sociodemographic correlates of alcohol and illicit drug use and abuse among US adolescents.
