BACKGROUND Renal urinary concentration is associated with enhanced expression of sodium cotransporter (rBSC1) in thick ascending limb of Henle. Overexpression of rBSC1 was reported recently in hypertrophied nephrons after unilateral nephrectomy (UNX) and in kidney isografts.
