The asteroid 2003 EH1, proposed as the parent body of the Quadrantid meteor shower, is thought to be the remnant of a past cometary object, tentatively identified with the historical comets C/1490 Y1 and C/1385 U1. In this work, we use recovery astrometry to extend the observed arc of 2003 EH1 from 10 months to about 5 years, enough to exclude the proposed direct relationship of the asteroid with both of the comets.

Orbital elements of comet C/1490 Y1 and the Quadrantid shower
The Quadrantid shower, one of the most intense showers, has been observed at the beginning of January each year. However, the origin of the meteors is still unknown. It was Hasegawa who first
The meteor-shower complex of 96P/Machholz revisited
Aims. The structure of the complex of meteoroid particles released from comet 96P/Machholz is studied to reveal a relationship among the meteor showers observed in the Earth’s atmosphere that belong
The dynamical evolution and the force model for asteroid (196256) 2003 EH1
Abstract This paper is devoted to the dynamics of asteroid (196256) 2003 EH1 which belongs to the Amor group. It is known that asteroid 2003 EH1 is associated with one of the main annual meteor
Analysis of the dynamical evolution of the Quadrantid meteoroid stream
Abstract We investigate numerically the dynamical evolution of simulated meteoroid stream of the Quadrantids ejected from the parent body of the asteroid (196256) 2003 EH1. The main goal of this work
The Science of Sungrazers, Sunskirters, and Other Near-Sun Comets
This review addresses our current understanding of comets that venture close to the Sun, and are hence exposed to much more extreme conditions than comets that are typically studied from Earth. The

Abstract. The orbit of asteroid 2003 EH1 is very similar to the mean orbit of the Quadrantid meteoroid stream so that a close relationship between the two is very likely. It has already been suggested
The parent of the Quadrantid meteoroid stream and asteroid 2003 EH1
The Quadrantid meteor shower is a very regular and prolific meteor shower. As such, one might expect that its parent would be easily recognizable. This is not the case, and numerous comets have been
The Quadrantid meteoroid stream and Comet 1491I
Although the Quadrantid meteor shower is one of the major regular showers, producing reliable displays every January, it is almost unique amongst the main showers in still not having an associated
2003 EH 1 Is the Quadrantid Shower Parent Comet
The Quadrantid meteor shower in early January is our most intense annual shower. Until now, the parent was thought to have evolved away from the observable part of an old, widely dispersed meteoroid
Ancient and mediaeval observations of comets and novae in Chinese sources
Abstract The existing catalogues on ancient and mediaeval Chinese comets and novae known to western astronomers are neither complete nor accurate mainly because they do not generally come from the
