Metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluR) have been shown to play a role in the modulation of acute and inflammatory pain. Additionally, we have recently detected time-dependent changes in the mRNA expression of several mGluR subtypes in thalamic nuclei of monoarthritic (MA) rats.
