Despite their ubiquity, there are many open questions regarding galactic and cosmic magnetic fields. Specifically, current observational constraints cannot rule out if magnetic fields observed in galaxies were generated in the Early Universe or are of astrophysical nature. Motivated by this we use our magnetic tracers algorithm to investigate whether the signatures of primordial magnetic fields persist in galaxies throughout cosmic time. We simulate a Milky Way-like galaxy in four scenariosโ€ฆย
Cosmological magnetogenesis: the Biermann battery during the Epoch of reionization
We investigate the effect of the Biermann battery during the Epoch of Reionization (EoR) using cosmological Adaptive Mesh Refinement simulations within the framework of the SPHINX project. We developโ€ฆ
Introducing SPHINX-MHD: the impact of primordial magnetic fields on the first galaxies, reionization, and the global 21-cm signal
We present the first results from SPHINX-MHD, a suite of cosmological radiation-magnetohydrodynamics simulations designed to study the impact of primordial magnetic fields (PMFs) on galaxy formationโ€ฆ
The Gamma-ray Window to Intergalactic Magnetism
One of the most promising ways to probe intergalactic magnetic fields (IGMFs) is through gamma rays produced in electromagnetic cascades initiated by high-energy gamma rays or cosmic rays in theโ€ฆ

A little FABLE: exploring AGN feedback in dwarf galaxies with cosmological simulations
Contrary to the standard lore, there is mounting observational evidence that feedback from active galactic nuclei (AGN) may also play a role at the low-mass end of the galaxy population. Weโ€ฆ

The effect of magnetic fields on properties of the circumgalactic medium
We study the effect of magnetic fields on a simulated galaxy and its surrounding gaseous halo, or circumgalactic medium (CGM), within cosmological 'zoom-in' simulations of a Milky Way-mass galaxy asโ€ฆ
A dynamo amplifying the magnetic field of a Milky-Way-like galaxy
Context. The magnetic fields of spiral galaxies are so strong that they cannot qualify as primordial. Their typical values are over one billion times higher than any value predicted for the earlyโ€ฆ

Cosmic ray feedback from supernovae in dwarf galaxies
The regulation of the baryonic content in dwarf galaxies is a long-standing problem. Supernovae (SNe) are supposed to play a key role in forming large-scale galactic winds by removing importantโ€ฆ
How primordial magnetic fields shrink galaxies
As one of the prime contributors to the interstellar medium energy budget, magnetic fields naturally play a part in shaping the evolution of galaxies. Galactic magnetic fields can originate fromโ€ฆ
Magnetizing the circumgalactic medium of disc galaxies
The circumgalactic medium (CGM) is one of the frontiers of galaxy formation and intimately connected to the galaxy via accretion of gas on to the galaxy and gaseous outflows from the galaxy. Here weโ€ฆ
