According to the postulates of the special theory of relativity (STR), physical quantities such as proper times and Doppler shifts can be obtained from any inertial frame by regarding it as isotropic. Nonetheless many inconsistencies arise from the postulates, as shown in this paper. However, there are numerous experimental results that agree with the predictions of STR. It is explained why they are accurate despite the inconsistencies. The Lorentz transformation (LT), unless subject to the…

A world system is composed of the world lines of the rest observers in the system. We present a relativistic coordinate transformation, termed the transformation under constant light speed with the

Multiple velocity composition in the standard synchronization

Abstract Mansouri and Sexl (MS) presented a general framework for coordinate transformations between inertial frames, presupposing a preferred reference frame the space-time of which is isotropic.

Relative binary and ternary 4D velocities in the Special Relativity in terms of manifestly covariant Lorentz transformation

. Zbigniew Oziewicz was a pioneer of the 4D space-time approach to covariant relative velocities. In the 1980s (according to private correspondence) he discovered two types of 4D relative velocities:

Relative binary, ternary and pseudo-binary 4D velocities in the Special Relativity Part I. Covariant Lorentz transformation

Zbigniew Oziewicz was a pioneer of the 4D space-time approach to covariant relative velocities. In the 1980s (according to private correspondence) he discovered two types of 4D relative velocities:

The Inertial Transformations and the Relativity Principle

Our recently proposed inertial transformations of the space and time variables based on absolute simultaneity imply the existence of a single isotropic inertial reference system (“privileged

Systematic approach to the relativistic Doppler effect based on a test theory

Numerous experiments have been carried out to validate the Lorentz transformation or to find possible violations of Lorentz invariance, based on test theories to test special relativity. The test

Synchronization Gauges and the Principles of Special Relativity

The axiomatic bases of Special Relativity Theory (SRT) are thoroughly re-examined from an operational point of view, with particular emphasis on the status of Einstein synchronization in the light of

Relativistic Rotation: A Comparison of Theories

Alternative theories of relativistic rotation considered viable as of 2004 are compared in the light of experiments reported in 2005. En route, the contentious issue of simultaneity choice in

The Thomas rotation

We review why the Thomas rotation is a crucial facet of special relativity, that is just as fundamental, and just as “unintuitive” and “paradoxical,” as such traditional effects as length

Comment on ‘Elementary analysis of the special relativistic combination of velocities, Wigner rotation and Thomas precession’

Significant difficulties in understanding the meaning of calculations presented by O'Donnell and Visser (2011 Eur. J. Phys. 32 1033), as well as an incorrect interpretation of the formula for the

On the relativistic velocity composition paradox and the Thomas rotation

The non-commutativity and the non-associativity of the composition law of the non-colinear velocities lead to an apparent paradox, which in turn is solved by the Thomas rotation. A 3×3 parametric,

EXPERIMENTAL TESTS OF TIME DILATION IN SPECIAL RELATIVITY

A review of experimental tests of time dilation in special relativity is given, with an emphasis on the recent heavy-ion storage-ring work, currently the most sensitive method. The experimental

Coordinate transformation between rotating and inertial systems under the constant two-way speed of light

Abstract. An observation system consists of the world lines of rest observers in the system. Recently a coordinate transformation between an isotropic and a rotating observation system has been
