Current economic restructuring policies have ignored unintended environmental consequences and cobenefits, the understanding of which can provide foundations for effective policy decisions for green economy transformation. Using the input-output life cycle assessment model and taking China as an example, we find that household consumption, fixed capital formation, and export are main drivers to China's environmental impacts. At the product scale, major contributors to environmental impacts vary…

Decoupling analysis and socioeconomic drivers of environmental pressure in China.
TLDR
China's decoupling performance has four distinguishable periods, closely aligning with nation-wide major policy adjustments, which indicates significant impact of China's national socioeconomic policies on its environmental pressure.
Saving less in China facilitates global CO2 mitigation
TLDR
This study is the first to analyse the impacts of changes in China’s saving rates on global CO2 emissions both theoretically and empirically and shows that the increase in the saving rates of Chinese regions has led to increments of global industrialCO2 emissions by 189 million tonnes (Mt) during 2007-2012.
Decomposition of energy-related carbon emissions in Xinjiang and relative mitigation policy recommendations
Regional carbon emissions research is necessary and helpful for China in realizing reduction targets. The LMDI I (Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index I) technique based on an extended Kaya identity was
Mercury Flows in China and Global Drivers.
TLDR
This study comprehensively examines Hg flows in Mainland China and uncovers domestic and external causal drivers of China's Hg emissions/releases and adjusts China's comprehensive Hg control that would otherwise only tackle primary emitters.
Environmental Impacts of China’s Urbanization from 2000 to 2010 and Management Implications
TLDR
It was found that the overall quantity of pollutant discharge decreased as cities became more economically developed during the years 2000–2010, however, larger and denser cities, and wealthier cities in the eastern part of China tended to have larger quantities of pollutants discharge, resource consumption, and changes in land use.
Final production-based emissions of regions in China
ABSTRACT Existing studies focus on either direct emissions of each province in China using production-based accounting (i.e. direct emitters) or emissions caused by the final consumption of each

China's growing CO2 emissions--a race between increasing consumption and efficiency gains.
TLDR
It is found that infrastructure construction and urban household consumption, both in turn driven by urbanization and lifestyle changes, have outpaced efficiency improvements in the growth of CO2 emissions.
Replacing gasoline with corn ethanol results in significant environmental problem-shifting.
TLDR
The study indicates that replacing gasoline with corn ethanol may only result in shifting the net environmental impacts primarily toward increased eutrophication and greater water scarcity, and suggests that the environmental criteria used in the Energy Independence and Security Act should be re-evaluated to include additional categories of environmental impact beyond GHG emissions.

TLDR
This paper demonstrates a simplified method for assembling and harmonizing various data sources to develop a sectoral environmental database for input-output life cycle assessment (IO-LCA), and provides background information for LCA through, for example, the hybrid approach.
Life-cycle implications of using crop residues for various energy demands in China.
TLDR
Hybrid life-cycle environmental and economic analyses evaluate and compare the atmospheric chemical, climatic, ecological, and economic issues associated with a set of energy conversion technologies that use crop residues for various energy demands in China to show that the return of crop residues to the fields, silo/amination and anaerobic digestion offer the greatest ecological benefits.
Setting Priorities within Product‐Oriented Environmental Policy
Summary To focus Danish product-oriented environmental policy, a study applying extended input-output analysis has been performed, identifying the most important product groups from an

TLDR
A shift to a service-oriented economy is shown to entail a decrease in GHG emission intensity per unit GDP but an increase, by necessity, in overall GHG emissions in absolute terms.
Environmental Impacts of Consumption in the European Union: High Resolution Input-Output Tables with Detailed Environmental Extensions
For developing product policy, insight into the environmental effects of products is required. But available life-cycle assessment studies (LCAs) are hardly comparable between different products and
