Nonadiabatic holonomic quantum transformations (NHQTs) have attracted wide attention and have been applied in many aspects of quantum computation, whereas related research is usually limited to the field of quantum physics. Here we bring NHQTs into constructing a unidirectional acoustic metamaterial (UDAM) for shaping classical beams. The UDAM is made up of an array of three-waveguide couplers, where the propagation of acoustic waves mimics the evolution of NHQTs. The excellent agreement among…

Acoustic metamaterials are artificial materials composed of subwavelength building blocks with rationally-designed shape, geometry, size, and arrangement. They have emerged as excellent platforms for

Controlling sound with acoustic metamaterials

Acoustic metamaterials can manipulate and control sound waves in ways that are not possible in conventional materials. Metamaterials with zero, or even negative, refractive index for sound offer new

The generation of acoustic Airy beam with selective band based on binary metasurfaces: Customized on demand

In this work, we present a type of binary metasurface (BM) to generate an acoustic Airy beam in air. Two coding bits, a rectangular cavity (bit “0”) and a waveguide with seven Helmholtz resonators

Controllably asymmetric beam splitting via gap-induced diffraction channel transition in dual-layer binary metagratings

In this work, we designed and studied a feasible dual-layer binary metagrating, which can realize controllable asymmetric transmission and beam splitting with nearly perfect performance. Owing to

Fast holonomic quantum computation based on solid-state spins with all-optical control

Holonomic quantum computation is a quantum computation strategy that promises some built-in noise-resilience features. Here, we propose a scheme for nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation with

Implementation of dispersion-free slow acoustic wave propagation and phase engineering with helical-structured metamaterials

It is shown that, with helical-structured acoustic metamaterials, it is now possible to implement dispersion-free sound deceleration and to turn a normally incident plane wave into a self-accelerating beam on the prescribed parabolic trajectory.

Experimental realization of single-shot nonadiabatic holonomic gates in nuclear spins

Nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation has received increasing attention due to its robustness against control errors. However, all the previous schemes have to use at least two sequentially

Wavefront modulation and subwavelength diffractive acoustics with an acoustic metasurface

The demonstrated metasurface can not only steer an acoustic beam as expected from the generalized Snell's law, but also exhibits various unique properties such as conversion from propagating wave to surface mode, extraordinary beam-steering and apparent negative refraction through higher-order diffraction.
