Tubular paracrystalline structures have been found in the cytoplasm of the inner integument of Diplotaxis erucoides. These structures seem to derive from enlarged cisterns of the rough endoplasmic reticulum so their nature is very likely proteinaceous. Considering that such cells are no longer present in the integument during the transformation of the ovules into seeds, it may be suggested that the structures present in the integument are gradually utilized for the development of the embryo.
