The nuclear matrix elements $M^{0\nu}$ of the neutrinoless double beta decay ($0\nu\beta\beta$) are evaluated for $^{76}$Ge,$^{100}$Mo, $^{130}$Te, and $^{136}$Xe within the Renormalized Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (RQRPA) and the simple QRPA. Three sets of single particle level schemes are used, ranging in size from 9 to 23 orbits. When the strength of the particle-particle interaction is adjusted so that the $2\nu\beta\beta$ decay rate is correctly reproduced, the resulting $M^{0…
Majorana neutrino masses, neutrinoless double beta decay, and nuclear matrix elements

Can one measure nuclear matrix elements of neutrinoless double β decay
By making use of the isospin conservation by strong interaction, the Fermi 0{nu}{beta}{beta} nuclear matrix element M{sub F}{sup 0{nu}} is transformed to acquire the form of an energy-weighted double

Improved description of the 2νββ-decay and a possibility to determine the effective axial-vector coupling constant
An improved formalism of the two-neutrino double-beta decay ($2\nu\beta\beta$-decay) rate is presented, which takes into account the dependence of energy denominators on lepton energies via the

The nature of massive neutrinos and multiple mechanisms in neutrinoless double-beta decay
Abstract.Determining the nature --Dirac or Majorana-- of massive neutrinos is one of the most pressing and challenging problems in the field of neutrino physics. We discuss how one can possibly
First application of the continuum-QRPA to description of the double beta decay
A continuum-QRPA approach to calculation of the $2\nu\beta\beta$- and $0\nu\beta\beta$-amplitudes has been formulated. For $^{130}$Te a regular suppression (about 20%) of the high-multipole
Assessment of uncertainties in QRPA $0νββ$-decay nuclear matrix elements

The CUORICINO 130Te ββ-decay experiment and a new limit on $$T_{{1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 2}}^{0\nu } (\beta \beta )$$
AbstractThe CUORICINO ββ-decay detector is an array of 62 TeO2 bolometers; 44 are 5×5×5-cm crystals made with natural tellurium (33.8% 130Te). There are 18, 3×3×6-cm crystals, 14 of which are made of

Shell Model Studies of the Double Beta Decays of 76Ge, 82Se, and 136Xe.

Evidence for oscillation of atmospheric neutrinos
We present an analysis of atmospheric neutrino data from a 33.0 kton yr (535-day) exposure of the Super-Kamiokande detector. The data exhibit a zenith angle dependent deficit of muon neutrinos which
