Prolactin-like immunoreactivity has been reported in the medial basal hypothalamus at the light microscopic level, in hypophysectomized rats. Here, with preembedding immunocytochemistry at the electron microscopic level, we have observed prolactin-immunoreactive neurons and synapses in the hypothalamus.
