The quadratus lumborum block (QLB) is a newly described block providing successful, safe, and long-lasting analgesia with the guidance of ultrasound. The QLB allows local anesthetic to spread posterior to the quadratus lumborum muscle and expand beyond the middle layer of the thoracolumbar fascia and paravertebral space. We present our experience with the use of an unilateral QLB to provide postoperative analgesia in a 3-year-old pediatric patient weighing 14 kg who underwent a unilateral…
Efficacy of Quadratus Lumborum Block in Children with Laparoscopic-Assisted Pyeloplasty
TLDR
According to the present study results, QLB provides a longer and more effective postoperative analgesia than WI in pediatric patients who have undergone laparoscopic-assisted pyeloplasty.
Analgesic sparing effect of dexamethasone with levobupivacaine in quadratus lumborum block in patients undergoing unilateral inguinal hernia repair: A prospective randomised controlled trial
TLDR
The addition of dexamethasone to levobupivacaine in QLB results in prolonged duration of postoperative analgesia, less rescue analgesic requirements and better quality of analgesia as compared to levOBupivicaine in unilateral inguinal hernia repair surgery.
Ultrasound in paediatric anaesthesia – A comprehensive review
TLDR
The use of ultrasound as an adjunct for regional anaesthesia, vascular access, airway management, bedside cardiac, pulmonary and abdominal imaging and intracranial pressure monitoring is explored.

Ultrasound-guided continuous quadratus lumborum block for postoperative analgesia in a pediatric patient.
TLDR
The use of ultrasound-guided continuous quadratus lumborum block for postoperative analgesia in a 7-year-old child scheduled to undergo radical nephrectomy (left-sided) for Wilms tumor was excellent and minimal requirement for rescue analgesics.
Continuous postoperative analgesia via quadratus lumborum block – an alternative to transversus abdominis plane block
TLDR
The use of unilateral quadratus lumborum catheter for analgesia following colostomy closure was reported and had good outcomes: low pain scores and minimal use of rescue analgesic medication.
Quadratus lumborum block for postoperative pain after caesarean section: A randomised controlled trial
TLDR
The quadratus lumborum block after caesarean section was effective and provided satisfactory analgesia in combination with a typical postoperative analgesic regimen and the VAS was significantly lower in the local anaesthetic group than the control group.
Quadratus Lumborum Block Versus Transversus Abdominis Plane Block for Postoperative Pain After Cesarean Delivery: A Randomized Controlled Trial
TLDR
The quadratus lumborum block was more effective in reducing morphine consumption and demands than transversus abdominis plane blocks after cesarean section up to 48 hours postoperatively.
