Ultrashort pulse compression in a semiconductor optical amplifier


We present theory and measurements of novel ultrashort-pulse-compression in a semiconductor optical amplifier. The microscopic model reproduces all qualitative trends of the experimental measurements with no fitting parameters, clearly demonstrating coherent transients at room temperature.
