In this paper, a blind near-far resistant position localisation algorithm is proposed for time-varying asynchronous multipath DS-CDMA systems. The proposed algorithm is applicable in the deployment of (1) wearable or implantable medical physiological sensors for body sensor network, (2) ambient sensors or other sensor nodes for wireless sensor network, and (3) mobile terminal geolocation for cellular network. Many conventional position localisation algorithms suffer performance degradation in a multipath environment (especially in an indoor or urban setup), thus compromising the reliability of the system. The proposed algorithm hence addresses this issue and in addition is capable of operating in the presence of strong co-channel interferences. A representative example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach and to highlight some of the key features of the algorithm.
