We present GALEX data for 44 Galactic globular clusters obtained during 3 GALEX observing cycles between 2004 and 2008. This is the largest homogeneous data set on the UV photometric properties of Galactic globular clusters ever collected. The sample selection and photometric analysis are discussed, and color-magnitude diagrams are presented. The blue and intermediate-blue horizontal branch is the dominant feature of the UV color-magnitude diagrams of old Galactic globular clusters. Our sample… Expand

Globular clusters represent stellar laboratories where observations can be used to validate models of stellar evolution. In this study, we put forth new ultraviolet (UV) photometric results of starsExpand
Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) observation of the Galactic globular cluster NGC 7492
We present detailed photometric observations of the Galactic globular cluster NGC 7492 using the data obtained with two far-ultraviolet (FUV: 1300 1800 Å) and three near-ultraviolet (NUV: 2000 3000Expand
Observations of the Bright Star in the Globular Cluster 47 Tucanae (NGC 104)
The Bright Star in the globular cluster 47 Tucanae (NGC 104) is a post-asymptotic giant branch (post-AGB) star of spectral type B8 III. The ultraviolet spectra of late-B stars exhibit myriadExpand
UVIT observations of UV-Bright stars in four Galactic Globular Clusters
Abstract We have performed photometric analysis of four Galactic globular clusters (GGCs): NGC 4147, NGC 4590, NGC 5053 and NGC 7492 using far-UV and near-UV filters of the Ultraviolet ImagingExpand
UV bright red-sequence galaxies: how do UV upturn systems evolve in redshift and stellar mass?
The so-called ultraviolet (UV) upturn of elliptical galaxies is a phenomenon characterised by the up-rise of their fluxes in bluer wavelengths, typically in the 1,200-2,500A range. This work aims atExpand
UVIT–HST–GAIAview of NGC 288: a census of the hot stellar population and its properties from UV
A complete census of Blue Horizontal Branch (BHB) and Blue Straggler Star (BSS) population within the 10$'$ radius from the center of the Globular Cluster, NGC 288 is presented, based on the imagesExpand
Detection of a White Dwarf Companion to a Blue Straggler Star in the Outskirts of Globular Cluster NGC 5466 with the Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (UVIT)
We report the discovery of a hot white dwarf (WD) companion to a blue straggler star (BSS) in the globular cluster (GC) NGC 5466, based on observations from the Ultra-Violet Imaging Telescope (UVIT)Expand
SPHERE/ZIMPOL high resolution polarimetric imager
Context. The SPHERE “planet finder” is an extreme adaptive optics (AO) instrument for high resolution and high contrast observations at the Very Large Telescope (VLT). We describe the Zurich ImagingExpand
Astrometric Membership Tests for the Zinn–Newell–Gibson UV-bright Stars in Galactic Globular Clusters
In 1972, Zinn, Newell, & Gibson (ZNG) published a list of 156 candidate UV-bright stars they had found in 27 Galactic globular clusters (GCs), based on photographs in the U and V bands. UV-brightExpand
Multiple Stellar Populations in Asymptotic Giant Branch Stars of Galactic Globular Clusters
Multiple stellar populations (MPs) are a distinct characteristic of globular clusters (GCs). Their general properties have been widely studied among main-sequence, red giant branch (RGB), andExpand
