The UPnP/spl trade/ 1.0 peer-2-peer home networking architecture is an important step towards interoperability of networked consumer devices, realizing the connected home experience. This paper describes how the UPnP 1.1 device architecture improves the UPnP 1.0 device architecture in a backwards-compatible way, improving discovery and compatibility with referenced standard.

Two protocols derived from the well-known DNS standard, mDNS and SD-DNS, provide generic ways to support service discovery and alternative mechanisms like UPnP and CoAP to support specific service discovery schemes are presented.
Resource Description Language: A Unified Description Language for Network Embedded Resources
The main goal for the RDL is to define a reusable and extensible resource description specification, which can only be reached if the resources are described in a standardized format.
Embedded Industry Monitoring Network System Based on UPnP
Industry fields experiments proved that this intelligent embedded IMNS realization method can obtain the anticipated functions of seamless link, zero-configuration and self-recognition using UPnP service program, and it can break through the limitation of enterprise internal gateway and real-IP to realize online remote monitoring andreal-time diagnosis by gateway support ofUPnP.
Interactive Industrial Robot Programming for the Ceramic Industry
A two step hybrid programming model was designed: first the user sketches the desired trajectory in a spatial augmented reality programming table using the final product and then the user relies on an advanced 3D graphical system to tune the robot trajectory in the final workcell.
