This paper details the participation of the UNED-UV group at the 2015 Retrieving Diverse Social Images Task. This year, our proposal is based on a multi-modal approach that firstly applies a textual algorithm based on Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) and Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering (HAC) to detect the latent topics addressed by the images to diversify them according to these topics. Secondly, a Local Logistic Regression model, which uses the low level features and some relevant and non… Expand

REGIM @ 2016 Retrieving Diverse Social Images Task
TLDR
The proposed approach refers to the Hierarchical, EM, Make Density-based clustering and the hypergraph-based learning to exploit visual, textual and user credibility-based descriptions in order to generate diversified results. Expand
Pseudo-relevance feedback diversification of social image retrieval results
TLDR
A novel pseudo-relevance feedback (RF) perspective to social image search results diversification from a completely unsupervised diversification scenario, where positive and negative examples are used to generate better representations of visual classes in the data. Expand

UNED @ Retrieving Diverse Social Images Task
TLDR
A novel approach based on Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) to detect the latent topics related to the images and a later Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering (HAC) to put together the images according to these latent topics. Expand
Retrieving Diverse Social Images at MediaEval 2017: Challenges, Dataset and Evaluation
TLDR
This paper provides an overview of the Retrieving Diverse Social Images task that is organized as part of the MediaEval 2014 Benchmarking Initiative for Multimedia Evaluation and presents the task challenges, the proposed data set and ground truth, the required participant runs and the evaluation metrics. Expand
Modeling user preferences in content-based image retrieval: A novel attempt to bridge the semantic gap
TLDR
A novel method for image retrieval based on Generalized Linear Model that aims to bridge the semantic gap between low level features and user preferences and a novel evaluation procedure based on the empirical commutative distribution functions of the relevant and non-relevant retrieved images. Expand
Generating Visual Summaries of Geographic Areas Using Community-Contributed Images
TLDR
A novel approach for automatic visual summarization of a geographic area that exploits user-contributed images and related explicit and implicit metadata collected from popular content-sharing websites and presents a novel evaluation protocol, which does not require input of human annotators. Expand
A novel dynamic multi-model relevance feedback procedure for content-based image retrieval
TLDR
A novel algorithm for modelling the users's preferences in the content-based image retrieval system that is compared to some recent similar approaches in literature, obtaining very good performance in terms of the MAP evaluation measure. Expand
MULTIMEDIA INFORMATION RETRIEVAL BASED ON LATE SEMANTIC FUSION APPROACHES- EXPERIMENTS ON A WIKIPEDIA IMAGE COLLECTION
TLDR
An improved system using a textual pre-filtering combined with an image re-ranking in a Multimedia Information Retrieval task to overcome semantic gap in a given query is proposed. Expand
Similarity measures in formal concept analysis
TLDR
This paper proposes three similarity measures based on existent set-based measures in addition to developing the completely novel zeros-induced measure and formally proves that all the measures proposed are indeed similarity measures and investigate the computational complexity of computing them. Expand
Diversifying search results
TLDR
This work proposes an algorithm that well approximates this objective in general, and is provably optimal for a natural special case, and generalizes several classical IR metrics, including NDCG, MRR, and MAP, to explicitly account for the value of diversification. Expand
Concept lattices and conceptual knowledge systems
Abstract “Concept Lattice” is the central notion of “Formal Concept Analysis”, a new area of research which is based on a set-theoretical model for concepts and conceptual hierarchies. This modelExpand
Hierarchical Clustering
In this contribution I present current results on how galaxies, groups, clusters and superclusters cluster at low (z≤1) redshifts. I also discuss the measured and expected clustering evolution. In aExpand
