Glucuronidation is an important pathway in the metabolism of protocatechuic aldehyde (3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde, PAL). However, the metabolites and primary UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) isozymes responsible for PAL glucuronidation remain to be determined in human.
