UBVI and Ha photometry is presented for 17319 stars in vicinity of the young double cluster h & chi Persei. Our photometry extends over a 37arcmin x 1arcdeg field centered on the association. We construct reddening contours within the imaged field. We find that the two clusters share a common distance modulus of 11.75$\pm$0.05 and ages of log age(yr) = 7.1$\pm$0.1. From the V-Ha colour, a measure of the Ha emission strength, we conduct a survey for emission line objects within the association…
We describe Chandra/ACIS-I observations of the massive ~ 13-14 Myr-old cluster, h Persei, part of the famous Double Cluster (h and ? Persei) in Perseus. Combining the list of Chandra-detected sources
Discovery of Gas Accretion Onto Stars in 13 Myr old h and chi Persei
We report the discovery of accretion disks associated with ~ 13 Myr-old intermediate/low-mass stars in h and chi Persei. Optical spectroscopy of ~ 5000 stars in these clusters and a surrounding halo
A Photometric Method to Search for Be Stars in Open Clusters
We describe a technique to identify Be stars in open clusters using Stromgren b, y, and narrowband Hα photometry. We first identify the B-type stars of the cluster using a theoretical isochrone fit
Be Stars in Open Stellar Clusters
The current status of the problem of anomalous increases in the relative number of Be stars in young open stellar clusters is summarized in this article. The relative content of Be stars is shown to
Pulsating B-type stars in the young open cluster h Persei (NGC 869)
We announce the discovery of six β Cephei stars and many other variable stars in the young open cluster h Persei (NGC 869). The cluster seems to be very rich in variable B-type stars, similarly to
