Abstract According to an idea that the quark and lepton mass spectra originate in a VEV structure of a U(3)-flavor nonet scalar Φ, the mass spectra of the down-quarks and charged leptons are investigated. The U(3) flavor symmetry is spontaneously and completely broken by non-zero and non-degenerated VEVs of Φ, without passing any subgroup of U(3). The ratios ( m e + m μ + m τ ) / ( m e + m μ + m τ ) 2 and m e m μ m τ / ( m e + m μ + m τ ) 3 are investigated based on a toy model.

O(3) flavor symmetry and an empirical neutrino mass matrix
Abstract Based on a new approach to quark and lepton masses, where the mass spectra originate in vacuum expectation values of O(3)-flavor 1 + 5 (gauge singlet) scalars, a neutrino mass matrix of a
Charged lepton mass spectrum and supersymmetric yukawaon model
Abstract On the basis of the so-called supersymmetric yukawaon model, it is investigated what form of the superpotential W can lead to the observed charged lepton mass spectrum. A simple form of W
Yukawaon approach to the Sumino relation for charged lepton masses
Abstract On the basis of a supersymmetric yukawaon model, Sumino's relation for charged lepton masses is re-derived. A relation between values of K ( μ ) ≡ ( m e + m μ + m τ ) / ( m e + m μ + m τ ) 2
A modified version of the Koide formula from flavor nonets in a scalar potential model and in a Yukawaon model
We present a modified version of the Koide formula from a scalar potential model or from a Yukawaon model, based on scalar fields set up in a nonet representation of the SU(3) flavor symmetry in the
An empirical neutrino mass matrix related to up-quark masses
Based on an approach to quark and lepton masses, where the mass spectra originate in vacuum expectation values of U(3) flavor nonet (gauge singlet) scalars, neutrino masses and mixing are
CAN MASSLESS AND LIGHT YUKAWAONS BE HARMLESS
In the so-called yukawaon model, where the effective Yukawa coupling constants are given by vacuum expectation values (VEV's) of gauge singlet scalars (yukawaons) Yf with 3×3 components, i.e. ,
A relaxed version of Koide's mass formula from Yukawaons: classical and SUSY scenarios
We present a relaxed version of Koide's mass formula from a nonet Yukawaon scalar in the $\mathrm{SU}(3)$ flavor symmetry. Koide's character $K$, which involves the Standard Model fermion masses, is

S4 flavor symmetry embedded into SU(3) and lepton masses and mixing
Based on the assumption that an S4 flavor symmetry is embedded into SU(3), a lepton mass matrix model is investigated. A Froggatt-Nielsen type model is assumed, and the flavor structures of the
New Origin of a Bilinear Mass Matrix Form
A charged lepton mass formula is explained when the masses are proportional to the squared vacuum expectation values (VEVs) of scalar fields. We introduce a U(3) flavor symmetry and its nonet scalar
Charged lepton mass sum rule from U(3)-family Higgs potential model
In this paper, the authors assume U(3)-family nonet Higgs scalars which couple to charge leptons bilinearly, a simple Higgs potential with a term which breaks the U(3)-family into SU(3)-family will
A fermion-boson composite model of quarks and leptons
Abstract Quark and lepton masses and flavor-mixing angles are estimated on the basis of a fermion-boson composite model where the (u, d), (c, s) and (t, b) quarks are assigned to the diagonal

Updated values of running quark and lepton masses
Reliable values of quark and lepton masses are important for model building at a fundamental energy scale, such as the Fermi scale M-Z approximate to 91.2 GeV and the would-be GUT scale Lambda(GUT)
New view of quark and lepton mass hierarchy
The hierarchical structure of realistic quark and lepton masses is investigated on the basis of a three-family model, where masses and mixings of the first- and second-generation quarks are
What happens if an unbroken flavor symmetry exists
Without assuming any specific flavor symmetry and/or any specific mass-matrix forms, it is demonstrated that if an unbroken flavor symmetry exists, we cannot obtain the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa
How to Evade a No-Go Theorem in Flavor Symmetries
A no‐go theorem in flavor symmetries is reviewed. The theorem asserts that we cannot bring any flavor symmetry into mass matrix model in which number of Higgs scalars is, at most, one for each sector
Fermion-boson two-body model of quarks and leptons and cabibbo mixing
