The three syntypes of Typhlops mutilatus WERNER, 1900, purportedly collected by W. BAUMGARTEN in “Malakka” and placed incertae sedis by HAHN (1980), are shown to be examples of the anomalepidid Helminthophis flavoterminatus (PETERS, 1857) from northern South America. The type series is redescribed, a lectotype is selected, and the internal anatomy of a paralectotype is described and compared with a series of H. flavoterminatus.
