We study models of stabilization near large complex structure in type IIB O3/O7 flux compactifications. We consider a special family of examples with a single nonvanishing Yukawa coupling in the large-complex-structure limit, which allows us to study all possible stable vacua of the tree-level no-scale potential very explicitly. We find that, by tuning fluxes, both supersymmetric and nonsupersymmetric vacua can be realized at almost any point in the large-complex-structure moduli space of one…

Towards a complete mass spectrum of type-IIB flux vacua at large complex structure

The large number of moduli fields arising in a generic string theory compactification makes a complete computation of the low energy effective theory infeasible. A common strategy to solve this

Flux vacua with approximate flat directions

We present a novel method to obtain type IIB flux vacua with flat directions at tree level. We perform appropriate choices of flux quanta that induce relations between the flux superpotential and its

F-theory flux vacua at large complex structure

We compute the flux-induced F-term potential in 4d F-theory compactifications at large complex structure. In this regime, each complex structure field splits as an axionic field plus its saxionic

Universal properties of type IIB and F-theory flux compactifications at large complex structure

A bstractWe consider flux compactifications of type IIB string theory and F-theory in which the respective superpotentials at large complex structure are dominated by cubic or quartic terms in the

On the Search for Low W0

The magnitude of the vacuum expectation value of the Gukov‐Vafa‐Witten superpotential |W0|$|W_0|$ plays a central role in the phenomenology of type IIB flux compactifications. Recent analytical

Refined BPS invariants, Chern-Simons theory, and the quantum dilogarithm

In this thesis, we consider two main subjects: the refined BPS invariants of Calabi-Yau threefolds, and three-dimensional Chern-Simons theory with complex gauge group. We study the wall-crossing

Quantitative Analysis of Mixtures of Various Linear Anhydrides and Carboxylic Acids

Only a few quantitative methods have been described to analyze mixtures of symmetric anhydrides, mixed anhydrides and their corresponding carboxylic acids. Reversed-phase liquid chromatography using

On the explicit construction and statistics of Calabi-Yau flux vacua

We explicitly construct and study the statistics of flux vacua for type IIB string theory on an orientifold of the Calabi-Yau hypersurface P[1,1,2,2,6], parametrised by two relevant complex structure

Constraints on Meta-stable de Sitter Flux Vacua

We consider flux compactification of type IIB string theory as the orientifold limit of an F-theory on a Calabi-Yau fourfold. We show that when supersymmetry is dominantly broken by the axion-dilaton

De Sitter vacua in no-scale supergravities and Calabi-Yau string models

We perform a general analysis on the possibility of obtaining metastable vacua with spontaneously broken N = 1 supersymmetry and non-negative cosmological constant in the moduli sector of string

Metastable flux configurations and de Sitter spaces

Systematics of moduli stabilisation in Calabi-Yau flux compactifications

We study the large volume limit of the scalar potential in Calabi-Yau flux compactifications of type IIB string theory. Under general circumstances there exists a limit in which the potential

General analysis of LARGE Volume Scenarios with string loop moduli stabilisation

We study the topological conditions for general Calabi-Yaus to get a non-supersymmetric AdS exponentially large volume minimum of the scalar potential in flux compactifications of IIB string theory.

Field dynamics and tunneling in a flux landscape

We investigate field dynamics and tunneling between metastable minima in a landscape of type IIB flux compactifications, utilizing monodromies of the complex structure moduli space to continuously

Large-volume flux compactifications: Moduli spectrum and D3/D7 soft supersymmetry breaking

We present an explicit calculation of the spectrum of a general class of string models, corresponding to Calabi-Yau flux compactifications with h1,2 > h1,1 > 1 with leading perturbative and

Kahler moduli inflation

We show that under general conditions there is at least one natural inflationary direction for the Kahler moduli of type-IIB flux compactifications. This requires a Calabi-Yau which has
