Abstract Two new hexacyclic triterpenoids, isolated as their methyl esters from the roots of Prunella vulgaris , were established by spectroscopic evidence and chemical correlation to be (12 R ,13 S )-2α,3α,24-trihydroxy-12,13-cyclotaraxer-14-en-28-oic acid and (13 S ,14 R )-2α,3α,24-trihydroxy-13,14-cyclo-olean-11-en-28-oic acid.
