The salamander fauna of Colombia is very poorly known, probably because most research efforts have been devoted to anurans during the last two decades. Here, we describe two new species of the genus Bolitoglossa (Eladinea) from the eastern flank of the Eastern Colombian Andes (Cordillera Oriental), near the border with Venezuela. Bolitoglossa tamaense sp. nov. is distributed between 2000 to 2700 m.a.s.l. and Bolitoglossa leandrae sp. nov. is distributed in the low-lands at about 600 m. The new…

The GFS is interpreted as a permanent pond due to the presence of Alligator sp.
A new species of salamander (Caudata: Plethodontidae, Bolitoglossa) from Sierra Nevada de Mérida, Venezuela.
TLDR
A new species of salamander from the cloud forest near La Mucuy in Sierra Nevada de Mérida, Venezuelan Andes, is described, which differs from all Venezuelan salamanders, except B. orestes, by a larger SVL/TL ratio and a reduced webbing extension of the front and hind limbs.
Taxonomic status of the Neotropical salamanders Bolitoglossa altamazonica and Bolitoglossa peruviana (Amphibia: Caudata: Plethodontidae), with the description of a new species from Northern Peru.
TLDR
A newly defined Bolitoglossa altamazonica species complex contains only populations from the Amazonian rainforest of Peru and analyses of nuclear gene sequences show no haplotype sharing between the new species and closely related species.
Nuevos registros de especies del género Pristimantis (Anura: Craugastoridae) para el nororiente de Colombia New records of species of genus Pristimantis (Anura: Craugastoridae) from northeastern Colombia
TLDR
Three new records of Pristimatis for Colombia are reported and one range expansion of one species for the country, however these species face threats from forest fragmentation and infection with Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis in the localities reported in Norte de Santander.
A new species of Bolitoglossa (Amphibia: Plethodontidae) from eastern Panama, with comments on other members of the adspersa species group from eastern Panama
TLDR
A phylogenetic analysis based on molecular data provides evidence for the assignment of the new taxon to the Bolitoglossa adspersa species group, and the new species differs in color pattern and morphometrics from all other congeners found in eastern Panama.
Filling in the Gaps: Natural History and Conservation of Bolitoglossine Salamanders in Central Panama
The goal of this study was to document the natural history of salamanders in central Panama and assess their response to drought conditions, which are predicted to become more common as a result of
Neotropical Plethodontid Biogeography: Insights from Molecular Phylogenetics
TLDR
Divergence dating analyses and parametric biogeographic analyses, together with a changing understanding of the taxonomy of the bolitoglossines and new geological evidence from Mesoamerica, call into question several long-standing hypotheses related to the arrival and diversification of thebolitogslossines in Central and South America.

TLDR
South America was invaded by members of one clade, Eladinea, which is infer to have dispersed to South America prior to closure of the Panamanian Portal, and the existence of large genetic diversity within morphologically homogeneous taxa is uncovered.
Molecular taxonomic reassessment of the Cloud Forest’s Bolitoglossa salamanders (Caudata: Plethodontidae) from Cordillera de Mérida (Mérida state, Venezuela)
TLDR
Sequence analysis of the 16S rRNA gene supports a biogeographical scenario where, so far, there is only one salamander species for each Sierra: B. orestes, which is widely distributed in Sierra La Culata, and a so far undescribed species of a Venezuelan bolitogloss-ine apparently restricted to Sierra Nevada de Merida.
New genera and a new species of Central American salamanders, with a review of the tropical genera (Amphibia, Caudata, Plethodontidae)
TLDR
To diagnose the new genus, an analysis of the entire neotropical assemblage of plethodontid salamanders was undertaken and Chiropterotriton is shown to be polyphyletic; thus, two new genera are described.
A NEW SPECIES OF SALAMANDER (CAUDATA: PLETHODONTIDAE: BOLITOGLOSSA) FROM THE SUBANDEAN FOREST WESTERN CORDILLERA OF COLOMBIA
TLDR
This species differs from other species of Bolitoglossa by having basal digital webs with digital depressions on tips of plantar and palmar regions, which are interpreted as adaptation for terrestriality in high mountain salamanders.
