During field surveys for rust fungi in northeast of China, rust specimens on Galium (Rubiaceae), Aster, and Kalimeris (Compositae) were found in Jilin and Heilongjiang Provinces. Comparative morphology and phylogenetic analyses with 28S and ITS regions of rDNA showed that these specimens belong to Pucciniastrum, although no telial stage was found and they were different to Pucciniastrum species previously reported from the same host genera. Therefore, the rust fungus on Galium and another on…

Life cycle and taxonomy of Chrysomyxa succinea in China and phylogenetic positions of Caeoma species on Rhododendron
The heteroecious life cycle of this species alternating between spermogonial and aecial stages on Picea jezoensis and uredinial and telial Stage on Rhododendron aureum is confirmed for the first time in China by inoculations and phylogenetic analyses.
Life cycle of Nothoravenelia japonica and its phylogenetic position in Pucciniales, with special reference to the genus Phakopsora
The autoecious macrocyclic life cycle of Nothoravenelia japonica on Flueggea suffruticosa was clarified by inoculations and it was suggested that the genus Phakopsora should be divided into two genera.
Notes, outline and divergence times of Basidiomycota
Divergence times as additional criterion in ranking provide additional evidence to resolve taxonomic problems in the Basidiomycota taxonomic system, and also provide a better understanding of their phylogeny and evolution.

Thekopsora ostryae (Pucciniastraceae, Pucciniales), a new species from Gansu, northwestern China
A new rust fungus on leaves of Ostrya japonica collected from Gansu Province was described, and analyses of the ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 and 28S rRNA gene partial sequences showed that T. ostryae could be a distinct lineage in the genus Thekopsora.
Toward resolving family-level relationships in rust fungi (Uredinales)
It is concluded that morphology alone is a poor predictor of rust relationships at most levels and host selection, on the other hand, has played a significant role in rust evolution.
A new species of rust fungus on the New Zealand endemic plant, Myosotidium , from the isolated Chatham Islands
Although no teliospores were found, LSU and SSU sequence analysis showed that the new rust is closely related to some species of Pucciniastrum and Thekopsora forming a weakly supported clade together with P. circaeae, P. boehmeriae, and P. epilobii.
Phylogenetic Analysis of Sugarcane Rusts Based on Sequences of ITS, 5.8 S rDNA and D1/D2 Regions of LSU rDNA
Phylogenetic analysis of sugarcane rusts based on sequences of ITS and the 5.8 S rDNA revealed two highly divergent ITS groups among isolates of Puccinia sp. sensu Muta, 1987 and P. kuehnii

A new rust species ofRoestelia onSorbus collected in China
A rust species ofRoestelia on Sorbus collected in China is newly described as R. echinulata, morphologically different from the other Roestelia spp.
