  • Abstract The mite genus Ophionyssus Megnin is added to the New Zealand fauna. It is represented by two new species from lizards: O. galeotes from the gecko Hoplodactylus duvauceli (Gekkonidae); and O. scincorum from the skinks Leiolopisma sp., L. moco, L. nigriplantare, and L. otagoense (Scincidae). Protonymphs of O. scincorum are also recorded from L. pretiosum in Tasmania.
