Two new alkaloids, named gelsenine (1) and 11-methoxyhumantenmine (2), were isolated from the whole plant of Gelsemium elegans. The structures were elucidated on the basis of 1D NMR, 2D NMR, and MS methods.
Two New Megastigmane Glycosides and a New Iridoid Glycoside from Gelsemium elegans
Two new megastigmane glycosides, eleganosides A and B (1 and 3, resp.), and one new iridoid glycoside, gouwenoside A (4), together with two known compounds, foliasalacioside B1 (2) and loganin (5),
Cytotoxic gelsedine-type indole alkaloids from Gelsemium elegans
TLDR
The ethanol extract of the leaves and branches of Gelsemium elegans afforded three new gelsedine-type indole alkaloids that were tested in vitro for cytotoxic potential against four laryngeal tumor cell lines including Hep-2, LSC- 1, TR-LCC-1, and FD-LSC-1.
Iridoids from leaves of Gelsemium elegans.
