We have shown previously by means of quail/chick transplantations that external and visceral organs, i.e., somatopleural and splanchnopleural derivatives, acquire their endothelial network through different mechanisms, namely immigration (termed angiogenesis) versus in situ emergence of precursors (or vasculogenesis).
