Using the imaging X-ray detectors on the Einstein Observatory, what appear to be two overlapping galactic supernova remnants are discovered, one of which is clearly identified with the previously cataloged radio remnant G296.1-0.7. The other feature has no radio or optical counterpart. It is a nearly complete ring with a diameter of 20-25 arcmin, designated 1E 1149.4-6209.
